About this home
Now is the opportunity to acquire the historic Wirsbo Herrgård and Ridcenter, located approximately 40 km northwest of Västerås. The manor, with origins dating back to the 16th century, enjoys a very beautiful setting on a promontory by Lake Virsbosjön. The property's 66 hectares of forest land include hunting rights.
In recent years, the manor has been carefully renovated using period-appropriate techniques and materials, bringing it to top condition today. Every room evokes memories of a bygone era, yet offers all the modern comforts one could wish for. Wirsbo Herrgård has a history stretching back to the 16th century, when Pontus De la Gardie, married to Sofia Gyllenhjelm, daughter of Johan III and Katarina Hansdotter, received the estate of Hwirtsboda from Johan III. Their son Johan Pontusson De la Gardie was a Swedish baron and founded Wirsbo Bruk.
Here you can stay in what were once the bedrooms of Oscar II and Herman Lagercrantz, stroll through the beautiful ruins by the manor's orangery, or cross the romantic "Kungsbryggan", built especially for Gustav III — or why not dine in the dining rooms that throughout history have hosted both royalty and nobility.
Living and auxiliary area totalling approximately 2,700 sqm. 2,100 sqm comprises the manor building, of which approximately 700 sqm is an unfinished floor, plus 635 sqm in the wings. Total plot area of 88 hectares, of which 3 hectares of building land, 6 hectares of parkland, 13 hectares of fenced pasture and 66 hectares of forest land.
Relaxation area by Lake Virsbosjön featuring, among other things, a SPA bath and sauna.
The manor includes 3 fully equipped private residences.
The current owner has operated hotel and restaurant business at the manor. Today there are a total of 45 beds, distributed across 19 hotel rooms and rooms in the wing buildings.
The estate also runs a highly appreciated equestrian operation, offering courses for both equestrian sports enthusiasts and those wishing to combine a manor stay with occasional riding excursions.
The historic stable building from 1759 has in recent years undergone a costly and extensive renovation and conversion. Today the facility is state-of-the-art and the standard is high. There are a total of 36 boxes, an office section, training rooms, a kitchen, and staff and student areas. Directly adjacent to the stable is an indoor riding arena, also in top condition, with a built-in gallery, judges' box and café section.
The 66 hectares of forest land consist mostly of middle-aged mixed forest with good conditions for producing timber of both good quality and high volumes. Forestry plan drawn up in 2018.
The possibilities are many, and the manor's new owner can choose the direction of the operation themselves. The highly representative setting is equally suitable for running a first-class hotel and restaurant business as for a stud farm or an elegant private residence.
The properties are all in very good condition. The entire facility has been upgraded under the current owner's direction, making it easy for a new owner to take over. This means the new owner does not face forced investments in the business or the properties.
The sale includes both properties and businesses, which is why the seller and Lejons Mäkleri are working together with Paulmarken Holmberg AB as project manager, responsible for, among other things, the sales structure and business description.
