On a quiet side street in Malmköping lies this charming, well-maintained turn-of-the-century villa. The villa was originally built for the traffic manager of the Mellersta Södermanlands Järnväg railway, and after him several of the prominent figures in the town have been owners of the property. White gate posts form the entrance to the courtyard, where two Åkerö apple trees bid welcome. The beautiful mullioned window and the rounded portal at the front give a hint of what awaits. The outer white double doors open into a smaller entrance hall where yet another pair of beautiful doors leads into the generous hallway. The hallway is clad in white beadboard panelling, has two comfortable benches upholstered with sheepskins that also offer storage space, and a well-planned, screened-off area for outdoor clothes and shoes. From the hallway, one can see through the tall mirrored doors into the living room the high-set window with its leaded panes. What catches the eye, besides the windows, is the beautiful open fireplace, whose pale pink and grey-green colours are echoed in the room's walls and ceiling mouldings. Mirrored doors lead on into the dining room, where a beautiful blue and white tiled stove stands. The room is clad in high panelling painted in English red and complemented by a fitting wallpaper from Åkerö. Ample light comes in through the six windows that form a corner with a view of part of the garden. In the floor there are still traces of the signal that the lady of the house pressed to call the housemaid. Via the serving passage, one reaches the kitchen, which received new bespoke fittings in 2016. The cabinets have been specially designed so that the upper sections are covered while the lower ones are illuminated glass display cabinets. The worktops are made of heat-treated ash, and the extra-high workbench was custom-made by carpenters. Since the large pull-out drawers under the benches hold a lot, the wall by the cooker hood is free of cabinets, giving a clean and airy impression. The hob is an induction hob. The oven and microwave are built in next to the combined fridge-freezer. There is also a small WC on this floor. Behind the kitchen lies the former maids' room, converted many years ago into a well-functioning laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Opposite the laundry room is the entrance to the spacious pantry. Should something not fit there or require a more evenly cool temperature, the food cellar below is just outside the kitchen entrance.
