The historic Vattentornet in Skärsätra was built in 1912 by the company Skärsätra as an important part of the area's water supply. Like several other elevated water towers on Lidingö – including those in Brevik, Herserud and Lidingö Villastad – the tower supplied the nearby residences with water from Lake Kottlasjön. The water tower was designed by the architect Peter Husberg and built at a construction cost of approximately SEK 8,000 – a significant investment for its time. At the top of the tower was the water reservoir, while the lower floors housed three service apartments for the staff at the nearby waterworks in Djupa Dalen. The tower was in operation until the 1950s. When the water reservoir was later dismantled, the building gained a new life. Today it is a privately owned and carefully converted landmark containing only five exclusive residences – a rare opportunity to live in a property where history, architecture and modern quality of life meet.
