About this home
Mountain house on a south-facing plot with views over untouched mountain nature
Mountain house Lokatten is a sleek, architecturally exciting house that flirts with the traditional mountain architecture of Härjedalen. The architect duo AndrénFogelström (www.andrenfogelstrom.se) has created an elegant and inviting mountain house with a slender profile and a characteristic gable roof that gives the house its soul. The façade is clad in beautiful, dark wood that gives a stylish impression. Inside, you are met by a warm and welcoming home. The heart of the house is the lounge and open-plan kitchen with a wood-burning stove and fantastic views, along with many bedrooms where you can relax after a day out in the mountains.
The house is situated on one of the best plots in the area, in a south-facing position with beautiful sunsets while looking out over untouched mountain nature and the Norwegian border. It is built with high quality, well-thought-out details and carefully selected materials that blend into the wild nature. Here you will find large social spaces, high ceilings and plenty of light. It is equipped with everything you could wish for, such as a wood-burning stove, sauna, two bathrooms with natural stone, five bedrooms, a private terrace and a fibre connection.

In Tännäs there is a wide range of activities all year round, both summer and winter. Tännäskröket offers four lifts and 17 slopes, and from the area you can reach the Funäsfjällens Ledsystem — one of the world's largest trail systems with over 30 mil of groomed cross-country ski trails connecting the entire area. For snowmobile enthusiasts, there are 450 kilometres of well-groomed snowmobile trails, where snowmobiling is very popular.
Tännäskröket is part of Destination Funäsfjällen and shares a common lift pass with Ramundberget, Tänndalen, Funäsdalsberget, Kappruet and the large cross-country skiing paradise Bruksvallarna. Together they form Scandinavia's largest ski system with 146 slopes. In addition to skiing, there are also 423 km of cycling trails, several hundred kilometres of hiking trails with 30 selected Guldturer, 10 KulTurer and 60 ToppTurer at altitudes above 1000 metres. The area is rich in mountain lakes and flowing water — here there are over 200 lakes and 300 km of flowing water, and almost 15,000 ha of fishing waters on the same fishing permit.
In Tännäs there is also its own microbrewery and a unique opportunity to meet the primeval animal, the musk ox, in its natural habitat. The area has always been associated with hunting and fishing, and lies right by the Rogens Nature Reserve, often called "Sweden's southernmost wilderness". The landscape is characterised by glacial formations from the Ice Age, and some of Sweden's best fishing waters, especially for grayling, are found here. The nature reserve also offers canoeing and hiking in a fantastic environment.
In Tännäs you will also find the popular Myskoxhägnet, open all year round, where you can see the primeval animal in a free environment. The village's oldest church is located here, and it is Sweden's highest situated church at 648 metres above sea level.
Tännäskröket is a gem for alpine ski enthusiasts and suits all ages — from families with children to off-piste skiers. Here there is varied terrain for downhill skiing on two mountains, Hemkröket and Mellankröket, with a total of 17 slopes. For the adventurous, there are challenging off-piste areas, where well-known freeride profiles such as Jon Wagenius and Tom Oliver Hedvall have developed over 20 routes with natural and constructed jumps and drops.
Adjacent to the ski resort there is a warming hut, ski rental, sports shop and the restaurant Árran — a name meaning fire in Sami. Here skier lunches, coffee and theme evenings are served. In addition, there is a spakåta available for rent, with sauna, hot tub and relaxation area, for those who want to unwind after an active day.
This is a place where adventure, nature and relaxation meet in a harmonious blend — a true hidden gem in the mountain world.
