Mio acquires Alves Möbler

It is now confirmed that Mio is acquiring Alves Möbler in Tanumshede. Through the deal, Mio strengthens its presence on the west coast and can offer customers an even better range of furniture and interior design. The acquisition is in line with Mio's long-term strategy of growing geographically and increasing its proximity to customers throughout the country. Svensk FöretagsFörmedling acted as advisor in the transaction.

The takeover will take place around the turn of the year 2025/2026. Thereafter, a renovation begins in which the store is adapted to Mio's store concept. The reopening is planned for spring 2026. The new store will be 2,500 square metres plus 1,400 square metres of storage space.

"The acquisition is a natural part of MIO's business strategy to increase its presence in Sweden. The location in Tanum Shoppingcenter is also particularly interesting with its proximity to cross-border trade with Norway and an area with many holiday homes", says Björn Lindblad, CEO of Mio.

Lars Widén, current owner of the store, says: "After a very constructive dialogue, we have together found a good way forward. Mio will be a strong and good owner, which has been important in order to secure a good and stable employer going forward for the company's valuable employees."

The acquisition marks yet another step in Mio's growth strategy of developing a strong and long-term presence in attractive retail areas around Sweden.

Finally, Svensk FöretagsFörmedling's transaction advisor Jonny Wennerdahl emphasises that the process has been very smooth, as Mio has a professional way of acquiring other businesses, and that it was of course facilitated by the fact that Alves Möbler is such a fine and well-maintained company.
