About this home

This is a place to come to when the pace needs to slow down. A place for bare feet, morning swims, forest walks and long days outdoors. A carefully cared-for leisure home where nature is not just nearby, but right outside the door. A peaceful place close to water, fishing and forests rich in berries and mushrooms. Here, days off can take the time they need, with the water close at hand and the forest around the corner. The main building has a well-planned layout where you are welcomed in a pleasant glazed veranda; beyond that you reach the living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and a toilet room with washbasin and incinerating toilet. In the living room, the open fireplace becomes a natural gathering point, spreading both warmth and atmosphere as the evenings grow cooler, as does the wood stove in the kitchen. In a separate building there are two further bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. With a total of 8-10 beds, there is plenty of room for family and friends while everyone can still have their own space. Part of the building also contains a garage and good storage spaces, plus practical room for leisure equipment, garden tools and everything else that belongs to country life. Kalvsnäs's history is closely tied to the older iron and ironworks industry in the area. One of the most interesting buildings is Kalvsnäs kvarn (mill). The current mill was built in 1865, on the site where a bar-iron forge had already been established in 1656. The mill today serves as a village museum. Likewise, Kratte Masugn, with its history that still shapes the landscape, is within walking distance for a visit. Despite the peaceful location, it is not far to everyday conveniences. In about ten minutes you reach central Torsåker with a grocery store, petrol station and Gästgivaregården, offering both pizzeria and à la carte. In the other direction awaits Stjärnsund with its beautiful ironworks setting, lakes and scenic surroundings. Here you get a place to long to return to, for quiet mornings, spontaneous swims, forest trips and evenings in front of the fire. A warm welcome!
