About this home

Two family businesses with strong traditions are now joining forces. Vaggeryds Chark AB is getting new owners as Härryda Karlsson Korv AB acquires the entire operation, including production, machinery, property and staff. High-quality sausage is the main product of both family businesses.

”We had been in some contact with the buyer even before we assigned the mandate to Svensk FöretagsFörmedling. Because even though we have similar expertise regarding the operations, we needed support with terms and handover, as well as someone from the outside who could answer all our questions and steer the negotiations, where it is easy for far too many emotions to come into play”, says the seller Christer Gustavsson together with his sons Fredrik and Johan.

Vaggeryds Chark started its operations in 1962, then under a different name and on a small scale. Christer Gustavsson has been active in the company since the 1980s, and for the past 25 years his sons Fredrik and Johan have also been part of the company. As Christer wishes to retire, the family has decided to hand over the business to new forces. In total, the deal covers around 40 employees.

A long history of craftsmanship and quality

Härryda Karlsson Korv has a history of more than a hundred years of charcuterie production and is still run by the same family that founded the company. The two businesses have much in common, both in values and in product range, but operate in different regions. Härryda Karlsson Korv has its strongest market in the Gothenburg area and Västra Götaland, while Vaggeryds Chark is based in Jönköping County and surrounding areas.

Strengthened presence in southern and western Sweden

Through the acquisition, Härryda Karlsson Korv strengthens its business and expands its geographical presence. The increased production capacity is an important part of the deal. Together, the companies have good conditions for continued growth. Vaggeryds Chark has a turnover of around SEK 90 million and Härryda Karlsson Korv has a turnover of around SEK 210 million.

”It feels very good that we now have the opportunity to unite two strong family businesses with the same values. The deal has gone incredibly smoothly, and I would like to extend a big thank you to Per Nilsson at Svensk FöretagsFörmedling for a professional and excellent execution”, says Fred Karlsson at Härryda Karlsson Korv.

Smooth process with strong consensus

Svensk FöretagsFörmedling, which has been advisor to the sellers during the process, experienced a relatively smooth due diligence process and, throughout, a good spirit between all parties.

”The companies complement each other very well, which has also characterised the process. There are always things along the way that require compromises, which positive and constructive talks have handled in the best way. I would like to extend a big thank you and give praise to both parties and the seller's auditor Björn Elken for a very good collaboration. My belief is that the companies' positive development will get an additional boost from this deal. Good luck to all!” says Per Nilsson, transaction advisor at Svensk FöretagsFörmedling.
