About this home

A genuinely Gotland summer retreat or permanent home in a beautiful limestone house. Within walking distance of the beach, on the outskirts of the charming little village of Hamra in southern Gotland, lies this wonderful place, 100 m from the bakery and 150 m from one of southern Gotland's many cosy inns. Originally a telegraph station from 1855, now winterised and fitted out with an enormous sense of detail. The dwelling house has recently been tastefully fully renovated and is fairytale-beautiful with fine material choices. Windows, doors and stair railing are new from local suppliers, the white goods are high-class from among others SMEG, and underfloor heating has been installed throughout the ground floor. Here there is not just one but two verandas, a truly beautiful old glass veranda, and a welcoming and immensely charming front entrance on the front of the house. At the back you enjoy the sun over the field, and the garden is beautifully grown with old fruit trees, lilac and peonies. Inside there is a delightful feel and spaciousness; one of the house's two living rooms looks down through a glass railing towards the thoughtful, beautiful kitchen. The house is characterised by consistently fine material choices and beautiful light through deep window niches. The newly built upper floor provides even more space to shape as you wish and is left open to the wishes and dreams of future owners. Perhaps the children want their own nook here, perhaps there is room for visiting friends and family. Extra space for long-distance guests is also found in the guesthouse, which can only be described as endlessly charming, with a living room, kitchen, WC and a bedroom on the entire upper floor. Around the corner there is both an outdoor shower and an outdoor kitchen. On the plot there is also an old barn that keeps its door ajar for upcoming parties on those evenings when the sun is not enough under the lanterns in the trees among roses and lavender. The house has retained its genuine charm and is a real dream place on Sudret! A warm welcome.
